Although many scholarly journals and reference materials are now available online in digital format, some may only be available in print here. These journals are organized alphabetically by title. Books on display in the white cubes on each floor of the library are available for users to check out at the Information Desk. Display materials are shelved in these cubes temporarily and retain their LC call numbers despite being shelved outside of their normal ranges. They are returned to their normal shelving when new materials replace them in the display. Materials in the online catalog will indicate a “display” shelving location along with the floor in which they can be found.

This system is different from high school and public libraries because it allows for more specificity in the items being cataloged around academic subjects. WEPA Print stations are located near the entrance to each floor of the library. Students can create an account on the WEPA app or website to load funds and set up connections to Google Drive, Blackboard, and email to send print jobs to the machine. Students can pay with credit, debit, ApplePay, Venmo, or Paypal. Print jobs can be sent via the cloud, a web browser, a thumb drive, email, or through the WEPA app.

James C. Kirkpatrick had a life-long relationship with the University of Central Missouri, starting as an undergraduate (class of 1929), serving on the Board of Regents, and becoming a Distinguished University Fellow. From his beginnings as the owner of the local newspaper to serving twenty years as Missouri’s Secretary of State, Mr. Kirkpatrick left an indelible mark not only on the University of Central Missouri, but the state of Missouri as well. Upon his retirement in 1985, Kirkpatrick began working out of a replica of his Capitol office on the first floor of the Ward Edwards Library. This office was then re-located to the second floor of the new library which was dedicated in his name on March 24, 1999. Kirkpatrick was famously proud of his Irish heritage and decorated the office in “emerald hues and Irish keepsakes he treasured”. The office also includes an extensive collection of Kirkpatrick’s public and private papers, now a part of the library’s Special Collections. The office is typically closed to the public, but is accessible by appointment, Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. James C. Kirkpatrick


James C. Kirkpatrick had a life-long relationship with the University of Central Missouri, starting as an undergraduate (class of 1929), serving on the Board of Regents, and becoming a Distinguished University Fellow. From his beginnings as the owner of the local newspaper to serving twenty years as Missouri’s Secretary of State, Mr. Kirkpatrick left an indelible mark not only on the University of Central Missouri, but the state of Missouri as well. Upon his retirement in 1985, Kirkpatrick began working out of a replica of his Capitol office on the first floor of the Ward Edwards Library. This office was then re-located to the second floor of the new library which was dedicated in his name on March 24, 1999. Kirkpatrick was famously proud of his Irish heritage and decorated the office in “emerald hues and Irish keepsakes he treasured”. The office also includes an extensive collection of Kirkpatrick’s public and private papers, now a part of the library’s Special Collections. The office is typically closed to the public, but is accessible by appointment, Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm.
